Weather patterns along the Malibu Coast can vary significantly depending on the elevation of each vineyard, offering a range of different varietals. Lower elevations near the water that are often trapped by coastal fog are best for growing early ripening grapes like Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Heartier red wine varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes thrive in the higher elevations of the canyons often sitting well above the coastal fog, indulging in long hot days and then cooled by the Pacific Ocean breezes that flow into the night.
